Katherine Plouffe
Professional athlete, Olympian
Katherine spent 8 years playing professionally, at the highest level, overseas. After playing her first season in Romania, she spent 7 seasons in the top French league (LFB), winning 2 French league titles with 2 different clubs. She has a decade of Team Canada experience, at various levels, competing in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, and finally stepping away in 2018. Katherine joined her sister Michelle, in forming Canada’s first 3X3 women’s team in the summer of 2019 and went on to compete and shine in the FIBA Women’s Series. Katherine grew up in Edmonton, and still calls the city home. She graduated from Harry Ainlay High School (2010) after going undefeated, winning 2 Provincial Championships, and went on to earn a full-ride scholarship to Marquette University. She was an outstanding student-athlete, earning multiple honours in her 4 years, joining the school’s 1000+ points club and finishing her collegiate career earning the Big East’s Scholar Athlete of the Year award.
Katherine has a passion to pass on what she has learned through sports. Sports have been a great way to build relationships, community, and unity. Knowing that the best teacher is learning from the experience of others, she hopes to share with the youth and next generation what has helped develop her character and guide her through ups and downs of the journey.

Michelle Plouffe
Professional athlete, 2X Olympian
Michelle finished her 8 year overseas professional career with her final season in Greece’s famed Olympiacos club. She played 7 years in the top division in the French league (LFB) – the 3 last seasons being a member of Tony Parker’s LDLC ASVEL Feminin team in Lyon, winning the French league title in 2019. She has competed in 2 Olympic Games – London 2012 and Rio 2016, with a decade of national team experience. Michelle joined her sister, Katherine, in forming Canada’s first 3X3 women’s team and competed (and dominated) the 2019 Women’s Series circuit. She is an Edmonton native, graduating from Harry Ainlay High School in 2010. She received a full-ride scholarship to University of Utah, where she competed in one of the best conferences in the NCAA, the PAC 12. She was a standout on her team, earning multiple All-American mentions, holds the all-time school record in rebounds, and 2nd all-time in scoring. Following her senior year, she was picked 19th overall in the 2014 WNBA draft by the Seattle Storm.
With all this experience, Michelle is excited to invest in and encourage the next generation of young athletes. She knows the importance of having strong female role models and sees the reality that girls are dropping out of sports sooner and at a higher rate than boys. Michelle loves the lessons and empowerment that sports can teach athletes of all ages!
